Shuckey Duckey Quack Quack

Shuckey DuckeySo I was asked to cover this pseudo-event as an internet radio station last February (2014). The guests were politicians running for local offices around the Dallas area. Okay, so know no one. Let me repeat, I do not know anyone! LOL. Upon entering the building, I became all ears, trying to listen for names that I may recognize. NADA! I do not even know the names. I am so politically inactive. Shame on me, right? So as I am listening, I catch a name being mentioned. Someone said Shuckey Duckey.  Light bulb goes off. I know that name. The comedian from the 80’s and 90’s. I soon learn that he’s from Dallas. Oh yea? Not sure how his name got mentioned or why, but okay.

Few minutes and pictures pass. I am mingling with these politicians introducing myself to one of them. While chatting I peep the door and in walks this dude who looks like Shuckey. “Hmm” I say to myself. “That looks like Shuckey Duckey” I tell this one young politician (forgot his name). He replies “I don’t know who he is. Who is Shuckey Duckey?” right away I knew I was talking to a kid! He looked old enough, but nah, not if he doesn’t know who Shuckey Duckey is.

I wander back to a friend and ask him, “say, doesn’t that look like Shuckey?” He confirms that it is him and the shocked look on my face was priceless. “What’s he doing here?” He’s from Dallas, explains my friend. “Oh, I didn’t know.” I am not from Dallas, so I would not really know who is from here! I begin to snap a few pics, managed to introduce myself and make small talk, while texting my older sister to log onto this station online and listen as I was “in the studio with Shuckey Duckey”. She got a kick out of it.

And the rest is, as they say, “HISTORY”!

Headshots: Brittany S.

Brittany Headshot Main

Brittany

I can never take for granted the importance of a good headshot. The proper headshot not only can get you noticed, but it can actually get you paid. Literally, you can get booked on a gig just for your appearance on your headshot. I love taking headshots. There are so many aspects to consider from hair, makeup, lighting (hair lighting, use of a beauty dish, key and fill lights), shadows, dramatics, etc. Factor in the type of lens to use and facial expressions and BOOM, a huge amount of factors to consider. You thought calculus was difficult?

Today’s post features Brittany (aka Kitten Noir), a local model whom I’ve shot on a couple of occasions. Brittany was a pleasure to work with as she was so soft spoken and easy to work with. Please enjoy some of favorites from our studio time.

Starting Over with a New Site

Knock OutBrand New Site

I decided to give my old site a new makeover. I gave it the old “heave ho” and decided to start over with a new site which is completely WordPress. It’s a work in progress but with time and effort it will be as robust as my other sites: Just Say Cheese Photos and My Blog.

So, what will this site consist of?

I am glad you asked, because I am still sorting that out. So far I have come up with only one answer – EVERYTHING! Everything that I shoot, that is. My goal is to shoot regularly (often) and post and blog. I want to remain busy during the second half of 2015.

What do I plan to shoot?

Who knows? Fashion, Fitness, Glamor, Pinup, etc. Friends & family? City scape? The homeless? I don’t know. I do have an interest in more editorial though. We will see how that goes.

Meetups?

I do try to attend local meetups to shoot, network, and develop a portfolio. I would love to do more but those darn things cost! I have no shame in telling you that some of these meetup organizers are proud of their product, too! I would like to collaborate more, though. The only issue with that is there is more of an opportunity to be taken advantage of. I said it! But more on that later.

Lets Shoot!

If you have a project or interest that you think I’d be a good fit for, please reach out to me. While I do reserve the right to refuse, I try to find some interest in most things. And oh yea, I do like to make a buck here and there, too! This hobby does cost, you know.
